The Blue Edition · London

Andrea Hamilton Studio’s inaugural pop up show The Blue Edition opened its doors on the 22nd of November, 2016. Andrea Hamilton invited Nico Kos Earle to curate a show on the theme of blue throughout the entire space of her studio, giving a platform to a group of talented artists. Showing together for the first time in London, ten artists were invited by Nico to create original works in response to the theme. Andrea Hamilton created a new series, Metamorphoses and revealed the first work from her life long project The Colour of Time. Deborah Tarr created two abstract oil paintings in different moods of blue Baie des Anges and Frenchman’s Creek and her London gallery Cadogan Contemporary lent us the monumental Mr Blue Sky and Silver Rain; Nancy Cadogan painted a series of skyscapes: Como Sky; Emma Levine went deep into the ocean and gave us Platonic corals Depth, Silver Seafan and Blue Seafan; Carol Bruton dreamt of a sculpture Ripples Blue and brought it to the show from Nice; Azadeh Ghotbi provided a powerful triptych on the theme of renewal: Twisted Lines; Edwina Sandys touched on the feminist side of blue with Blue Stocking with her playful Red, Hot and Blue; Dominique Gerolini sent us 5 variations on blue in acrylic Bleu 1,2,3,4,5; Suki Jobson built the bones of the show with her site specific work illustrating the history of blue pigments with hand painted ladders in addition to works on paper Float and Measure and sculptural elements throughout the show; and Echo Morgan gave us the most intimate and sensitive performance self painted as the inside of a vase and standing for over three hours inside her own site specific bamboo and paper mache “Drop of Tear.”
